ITU IPTV standard Rec J.700: ITU-T SG 9(integrated broadband cable networks and television and sound transmission), in its meeting of October/November 2007, gave consent to a draft new recommendation on IPTV to go through the Alternate Approval Process (AAP). The draft new recommendation J.700 titled “IPTV Service Requirements and Framework for Secondary Distribution” is now at the Last call Judgement (LJ) stage. It describes the service requirements and functional framework architecture for support of IPTV services. Requirements for network elements and customer premises equipment (CPE) are covered. The draft new recommendation also leverages existing deployed technologies to provide a smooth path for operators to integrate IPTV technology into their networks.
