Also known as chrominance, though the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standards use the term colour-difference, while chrominance is a term used in colorimetry.

Mathematically, where Y represents the non-linear luminance signal, and Blue the non-linear blue primary signal the color difference signal is given by (B-Y) and similarly (R-Y).
